NORMA Group’s research and development activities focus on developing innovative products and system solutions as well as identifying technological trends at an early stage in order to tap into new markets and applications. Further general information on NORMA Group’s research and development strategy is provided in the ANNUAL REPORT 2025.
In the first six months of 2026, innovation projects involving technologies, product concepts, manufacturing techniques, and materials were systematically advanced in the two strategic business units, Industry Applications and Mobility & New Energy.
In the Industry Applications business unit, the focus was on stationary energy storage applications, such as battery energy storage systems (BESS), and on identifying new uses for existing products, including in household appliances (white goods), aerospace applications, and data centers.
In the Mobility & New Energy business unit, the focus was on further developing thermal management for batteries and systems for electric mobility and on continuously optimizing existing products in terms of standardization, robustness, resource efficiency, and weight reduction.
Across both business units, efforts focused on increasing the use of sustainable materials, for example through the use of PIR (post-industry recycling) and bio-based materials, and on developing PFAS-free solutions in preparation for future regulatory requirements. In addition, existing products were continuously optimized in terms of cost, performance, and efficiency.
Many new product ideas and resulting patent applications underline the focus of the research and development teams.
